Gardening Advice - Colleen Plimpton
March brought a heat wave, a hail storm, snow flurries, high winds and very little rain. But enough of that already!
It's APRIL at last and there is lots happening this month as our gardens are springing into life.
We hope you have your 2012 Yearbook handy and can refer to the double-page entries for the Horticulture Club of Newtown's April programs. If you don't have a Yearbook, please call Henry at 203-426-5675.
Be sure not to miss attending our Special Event on Thursday, April 12, 7 pm, at the CYRENIUS BOOTH LIBRARY in the downstairs public meeting room (enter from the library's back parking lot). The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
HELLO, MY GARDEN!
Our speaker for this special event will be COLLEEN PLIMPTON, garden columnist for the Danbury News-Times.
Colleen is an award-winning author with 30 years' experience creating and tending her own garden in Bethel, CT.
She will offer plenty of good gardening advice sprinkled with humor and maybe a little perspective on weird-weather springs like this one! "Show and Tell" is included as Colleen passes around her favorite gardening tools and a few neatly bagged composted soil samples. You'll be amazed at how black and beautiful and odorless her compost is!
She will also be selling and signing copies of her CT Book Award Finalist memoir: "Mentors in the Garden of Life."
Hope to see you there and don't forget, this time it's in the library and not the Meeting House.
